KUALA LUMPUR – Putrajaya will evaluate all lockdown standard operating procedures (SOPs) if daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia dip below 4,000, said Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
However, he said, this does not indicate that the government will end the lockdown.
“I was informed by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba and Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah that SOPs will be reviewed once we reach 4,000 daily Covid-19 cases.
“It does not mean that we will end the movement control order (MCO 3.0), but we can maybe loosen SOPs a little,” he said at a press conference today after visiting the field hospital at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru, Johor.
Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry will make recommendations to the National Security Council on measures that could be taken if the daily infection rate drops to 4,000, reported Bernama.
He said he hopes the daily cases will drop to below 4,000 by next week, following the implementation of the total lockdown since June 1. – The Vibes, June 13, 2021
