KUALA LUMPUR – Individuals whose Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) applications have been rejected can submit their appeal from Tuesday until June 30, said Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

Tengku Zafrul in a statement today said applicants can submit an appeal with relevant documents to the Inland Revenue Board (IRB).

“This appeal process is also to ensure the assistance will reach those who really need it.”

Previously, the government announced the Pemerkasa Plus aid package, with an additional allocation of RM2.1 billion for financial assistance under BPR to continue helping existing recipients.

Tengku Zafrul said applicants can submit their appeal using several methods:

- Online via the BPR portal; or,

- Deliver the BPR 2021 appeal form manually to IRB branches, Revenue Service Centres, or Urban Transformation Centres by appointment.

“Once the BPR database is updated, payments will be channelled to the applicants in August (for additional BPR) and September (BPR Phase 3).”

He said applicants can refer to the frequently asked questions posted on the BPR portal for further information.

To date, the government has paid out RM4.6 billion to 8.4 million BPR recipients from the B40 group in February, March and May this year, while Phase 3 payments will be made in September. – Bernama, June 13, 2021
