KUALA LUMPUR – The vaccination centre (PPV) at Bukit Jalil National Stadium is expected to start operations on Monday, with a capacity of 10,000 doses daily, said Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican.

In a Facebook post last night, he said the mega PPV will enable more people, especially Klang Valley folk, to get their Covid-19 jab, with the focus being on individuals aged 40 and below.

“The entire stadium has been transformed into a PPV, in line with the National Recovery Plan announced by the prime minister.

“This is part of the ministry’s efforts to ensure the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, led by Khairy Jamaluddin, and the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and Health Ministry, sees the optimal use of available facilities.

“God willing, with this initiative, we will be able to increase the vaccination rate.”

At the initial stage, said Reezal Merican, 60 volunteers under his ministry will be assigned to the mega PPV, with the number to be increased when needed.

Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil started operating as a PPV on June 7, he added. – Bernama, June 19, 2021
