KOTA KINABALU – Three factories have been slapped with compounds by the police for operating without permission from the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) today.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said that the operation – codenamed Op Patuh – aimed to ensure that factories operating in the district were allowed to do so by Miti and adhered to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding the number of workers, face masks and social distancing.
The joint operation conducted by the police, Kota Kinabalu City Hall, the Health Ministry and Rela inspected a total of 10 factories involved in the manufacturing of metal, plastic, beverages, and polystyrene products.
Besides the three compounds issued to the factories, 12 workers were also fined for failing to scan their MySejahtera app.
“Factories that were issued the compounds did not understand the SOPs.
“This operation will be conducted from time to time until the situation improves. We hope all factories comply with the SOPs,” he said. –The Vibes, July 3, 2021
