KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein’s promotions have netizens “concerned” about the well-being of Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

A number of Malaysians took to social media to ask if the international trade and industry minister is “doing OK”.

The outpouring of “sympathy” comes as Azmin – previously seen as a candidate for the deputy prime minister’s post, while Hishammuddin was tipped to replace Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister – is seemingly trumped by the Umno duo.

The Prime Minister’s Office today announced Ismail Sabri’s appointment as deputy prime minister. He retains his defence portfolio.

Foreign Minister Hishammuddin, meanwhile, has been accorded “senior minister” status, and will take over Ismail Sabri’s duties relating to the security cluster.

Muhyiddin also agreed to Hishammuddin assisting him in implementing the National Recovery Plan. – The Vibes, July 7, 2021
