KUALA LUMPUR – Lim Guan Eng has again slammed Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for being unable to handle the multiple crises that have hit Malaysia on the back of its record-high Covid-19 tally.
Speaking briefly to the press outside the high court here after his corruption trial over the Penang undersea tunnel project today, the former finance minister said the opposition is not interested in politicking, and instead, more focused on handling the various issues arising from the pandemic.
“We are not interested in politicking right now, unlike some people who are politicking until they get what they want, but then, they tell others to stop politicking.
“For us, we are more focused on Covid-19. You don’t see us making comments on the present power struggle.”
Muhyiddin has lost majority support in Parliament and should resign to allow the nation a fresh start, he said.
With the loss of his parliamentary majority, and the Covid-19 and economic crises that have resulted in ordinary people having to fly the white flag, Muhyiddin has shown that he is unable to handle these issues, as well as the political instability. He needs to resign and give the country a fresh start.”
Lim was present for the second day of his trial, which is being heard at the sessions court.
Proceedings were adjourned early after lead counsel Gobind Singh Deo informed the court that a staff member, with whom he was in close contact, has tested positive for Covid-19.
