KOTA KINABALU – Police here said a 60-year-old limousine driver who rammed into three cars at Kota Kinabalu International Airport yesterday afternoon was frustrated when other drivers jumped the queue at the hub’s limo stand.

District deputy police chief George Abd Rakman said early investigations revealed that the suspect lost his temper.

He said the queue-jumping occurred as the suspect would leave his vehicle parked at the limo stand and then go elsewhere.

“Taxi drivers would jump the queue to pick up passengers as the suspect would always leave his car at the airport and go somewhere else.

“This is not the first time the suspect has lost his temper over queue-jumping. But, the other drivers had to move forward so that passengers are not left waiting.”

The suspect, who has hypertension, fainted after the incident yesterday, and is currently hospitalised.

The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, which carries a maximum jail term of five years and a fine of between RM5,000 and RM15,000 upon conviction. – The Vibes, July 20, 2021
