KUALA LUMPUR – “Saved” by a video he recorded when getting his first AstraZeneca Covid-19 shot that showed him receiving less than the recommended dosage, Anoogrehan Manoharan today got his third jab at the World Trade Centre here.
The marketer told The Vibes that the nurse went through the required processes.
Vaccine recipients can no longer record videos of the procedure, but are allowed to take photos.
“I think it’s important to take a video because the authorities can’t really be everywhere to observe all that’s happening,” said Anoogrehan.
If people are allowed to take videos, it instils confidence on both sides. One, the people who are doing the job, and two, the people receiving (the vaccine). So, if they allow videos to be taken, that would be good. It allows for transparency.”
Anoogrehan went for his first jab on May 19. He documented the process like the many others who shared their vaccination experience on social media.
He said syringes were already prepared on the table when he went into the immunisation room.
“I didn’t notice anything amiss at first because I was busy recording the video. That evening, some of my friends told me that the volume in the syringe didn’t look right. They checked with their medical friends, and I checked with some of my doctors as well.
“They asked what was the dosage for AstraZeneca, and I said 0.5ml. They said it was definitely not 0.5ml (in the syringe).”
He then sought help from BP Healthcare at WTC, and the matter was looked into immediately. However, it took some time to get a “top-up” vaccine dose due to the need to follow guidelines.
Anoogrehan was administered his second shot – a 0.5ml dose – on May 23.
Now that recipients are barred from recording a video of the vaccination process, he advised people to pay extra attention.
He added that nobody is to blame for his experience.
“Make sure they show the vaccine being taken right out of the bottle, and confirm the exact dosage. During the jab itself, make sure you observe that the vaccine is administered.” – The Vibes, July 21, 2021
