KENINGAU – Sabah is on target to vaccinate 60% of its population by October.

This is after administering 30,000 doses per day for four consecutive days.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor said figures released by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) revealed that 31,375 doses were distributed on July 21, 32,293 on July 22, 35,749 on July 23 and 32,504 on July 24.

“With the anticipated arrival of the single dose CanSino vaccine next month, Sabah is well on course to achieve its target,” said Hajiji in a statement today.

The opening of the state’s first integrated mega vaccination centre (PPV) on July 28 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) would boost its vaccination rate, he said.

“Together with the existing Public-Private Cooperation Covid-19 Industry Immunisation Programme (Pikas) for industrial workers, the PPV involving two private healthcare organisations is expected to ramp up vaccination from 1,500 to 10,000 daily.”

Hajiji also disclosed that Sabah will receive one million doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine and the 1.8 million CanSino vaccine doses next month.

During his visit at the Keningau Sports Complex’s PPV, Hajiji distributed the Bantuan Prihatin Sabah (BSP) 3.0.

On the food baskets and one-off cash assistance, Hajiji said 84.25% or RM88,815,600 of the RM120,469,481 allocated under BSP 3.0 announced on June 9 has been disbursed.

The one-off assistance involves RM45,612,200 is distributed under the state Rural Development Ministry.

It is also part of a RM120 million allocation which has almost been fully disbursed. – The Vibes, July 27, 2021
