KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) lawmakers are now gathering at Umno headquarters in the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here after the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government failed to convince the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to declare a nationwide emergency.

Among those who have arrived at PWTC are Gua Musang MP Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Tg Piai MP Datuk Seri Wee Jeck Seng and Padang Besar MP Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin, who is deputy communications and multimedia minister.

Zahidi, who spoke to reporters on the sidelines, said the meeting is on the Agong’s decree yesterday on the lack of need for an emergency, which Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had sought for on Friday.

“Everyone will attend. So if there’s any doubt, we will ask everything. We’re having a meeting about the current situation. About the Covid-19 situation too. Our strategy is to help the people.”.

He was non-committal on a query on whether BN lawmakers will meet the Agong to ask for Parliament to be dissolved after today’s meeting.

“I don’t think so. Because we heard what the Agong said. No more politics. Just help the people. Whatever problems we may have with Bersatu (Muhyiddin’s party), we will discuss about it.” – The Vibes, October 26, 2020
