KUALA LUMPUR – When interstate travel resumes, it will be a challenge enforcing SOPs against those who have yet to be vaccinated, but Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says the law will catch up to them.
The Rembau MP was asked during a press conference in Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) today if it is possible for those who refuse or who have yet to be vaccinated to perform Covid-19 self-tests before travelling out of state.
Khairy said this would not be easy to enforce, given that it may cause congestion at roadblocks.
Nevertheless, he said police will continue enforcing standard operating procedures set by the National Security Council (NSC).
“Let’s say someone who hasn’t been vaccinated crosses state lines and visits their parents.
“If they go out to eat and the police perform random inspections, the authorities will find out who is supposed to be there and who is not.
“They will compound the person. The law will catch up to you,” Khairy said.
He also said that those who have registered for the Covid-19 shot but have yet to receive their appointment can inquire via the Helpdesk feature on the MySejahtera app.
On self-test kits, Khairy said the government is looking to reduce the current price and will make an announcement on the matter after discussing it with the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry.
However, this time, he said there may be a buffer period before the new price comes into force so that sellers can finish selling off their stock without making a loss. – The Vibes, October 7, 2021
