KUALA LUMPUR – The Health Ministry will take over the remaining vaccination programme from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF), seeing that almost 95% of the adult population has been fully jabbed.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said his deputy, Datuk Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali, will chair the CITF-A (Adolescent) and he himself will oversee CITF-B (Booster).

The CITF held its last meeting today.

Meanwhile, Khairy said 80% (2,524,156) of the adolescent population has received at least one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine in less than two months.

“In less than two months, we have been able to give 80% of our 12-17 year olds at least their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. One of the fastest adolescent COVID vaccination rollouts in the world. Thank you, @DrNoorAzmi @DrMahHS & everyone at CITF-A. #LindungDiriLindungSemua,” he tweeted this morning.

Deputy Education Minister Datuk Mah Hang Soon was previously tasked with overseeing Covid-19 vaccination for teens.

According to the CovidNow website, 1,367,216 (43.4%) teens aged 12-17 have been fully vaccinated as of 11.59pm yesterday.

As for the adult population, 22,084,594 (94.3%) individuals have completed their jabs while  22,792,916 (97.3%) got at least one dose. – The Vibes, October 22, 2021
