KUALA LUMPUR – Teenager Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam has been invited to be a panellist for an upcoming programme organised by the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).

Titled “INSPIRE: Ending Violence Against Children During Covid-19 and Beyond”, Ain Husniza will be speaking alongside special representative of the United Nations (UN) secretary-general Dr Najat Maalla M’jid.

The Unicef programme is scheduled to be aired online on November 1-5, while Ain Husniza will be speaking two days earlier on October 30.

“During their discussion, Ain Husniza will voice out her views about the current situation with regard to children’s rights in Malaysia.

“The discussion will be conducted via Zoom and will be shared live on Facebook,” Ain Husniza’s father, Saiful Nizam, posted on his Facebook page.

On social media, Ain Husniza – famous for calling out a teacher who made rape jokes in class – received praise over her invitation to the Unicef programme.

Cartoonist Zunar aka Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque, among those who congratulated Ain Husniza, pointed out that the 17-year-old is one of seven Asians chosen to participate in the programme.

“Congrats Ain! Ain Husniza received a special invitation as a panellist along with UN secretary-general special representative Dr Najat.

“Only seven individuals from Asia were chosen,” Zunar tweeted.

Additionally, Ain Husniza received congratulatory messages from activist Nathaniel Tan.

“Congrats Ain! She has been invited as a panellist on October 30 during the Ending Violence Against Children During Covid-19 and Beyond campaign,” Tan tweeted. – The Vibes, October 26, 2021
