KUALA LUMPUR – Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law) Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan has revealed that several Dewan Negara officers have tested positive for Covid-19.
This is one of the reasons behind the decision to adjourn today’s Dewan Rakyat session at 1pm instead of the usual 5.30pm.
“There’s a new development that we felt we shouldn’t reveal. A few Dewan Negara staff have been found to be Covid-19-positive.
“We expect that a few Dewan Negara members might have been infected because the officers were attached to them.
“That is a very worrying development. So, I hope the MPs will get an explanation from your respective party whips to make an adjustment regarding the meeting’s time frame.”
At 10.30am, Speaker Datuk Seri Azhar Azizan Harun called the party whips to discuss the matter.
Yesterday, Senator Ras Adiba Radzi posted to Twitter a statement informing the public that her special officer Ras Afiona Radzi, who is also her sister, has tested positive for the coronavirus and is being treated at Sg Buloh Hospital.
“My 10 family members and I are waiting for our Covid-19 screening results. At the same time, I would like to apologise if my family and I have troubled anyone,” said Ras Adiba. – The Vibes, November 2, 2020
