GEORGE TOWN – A grand design went into motion to disrupt the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration and former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad played his part in it, according to former Amanah vice-president Datuk Husam Musa.

In a recent YouTube video, Husam said Dr Mahathir began plotting the downfall of PH the day PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was released from prison in 2018.

“Since Pakatan won the last general election, a grand design went into motion to first disrupt the ruling coalition before wresting control from Anwar.

“When I was appointed senator, I noticed that Dr Mahathir left vacant 16 senator seats.”

Husam added that the Dewan Negara now consists of people friendly to the current coalition of Perikatan Nasional.

“Therefore, it is a waste of time to work with Dr Mahathir to reclaim the government.”

He said it is bemusing that Dr Mahathir wants to work with Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah to form a national unity government, adding that he heard that Dr Mahathir wants to lead for six months and Tengku Razaleigh, another six months.

“Stop such nonsense. For Tengku Razaleigh, it is better to work with Anwar for the future of Kelantan and the country.”

Husam said he has conveyed this to Tengku Razaleigh.

He added despite repeated warnings to Amanah deputy president Datuk Salehuddin Ayub, PH could not prevent the coup in February.

While hinting that he may consider retiring from politics, Husam hopes that the people can unite behind a noble cause – support the premise that those who “stole” the government should hand it back to the rightful leaders.

Failing that, he said it will mean that Malaysia may not be competitive economically as investors will shun a nation who disregards the democratic system just to suit the needs of an elite few. – The Vibes, November 3, 2020
