MIRI – The ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition is playing mind-games against its opponents by declaring that they have won the state election already, said opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).

Its Miri branch chief Bruce Chai told The Vibes today that GPS is trying to demoralise the opposition candidates.

“These few days are the crucial run-up period to the December 18 polling day. The GPS leaders are openly telling people that they will form the new state government, that they will win easily, that victory is already theirs.

“This is the same tactic used by Barisan Nasional (BN) (when GPS was still with BN). In the 2018 general elections (parliamentary elections in Sarawak), they (BN) also used the same tactics of mind-games.

“They lost many seats (14 parliamentary seats) in Sarawak,” he said.

The Pujut seat candidate and former Miri city councillor is contesting against SUPP candidate Adam Yii under the GPS banner, DAP’s Alan Ling and Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s Leslie Ting.

Chai today said that as far as PSB is concerned, the state election war is not over, noting that there are good indications from the ground that his party is gaining increasing interest from the public.

“I am optimistic, we in PSB are all still very optimistic. We will not be distracted by the mind-games that GPS is trying to play on us,” he said.

PSB is contesting in 70 of the 82 state constituencies while GPS has fielded candidates in every seat for the December 18 polls. – The Vibes, December 15, 2021
