EMCO in four Sabah locations extended two weeks

KOTA KINABALU – The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in four locations in Sabah has been extended for another two weeks. 

The Tawau temporary detention centre, Sandakan prison, and the latter’s Taman Wira prison quarters continue EMCO until November 19, while Anjung Teduh Felda Sahabat in Lahad Datu will be affected until November 20.  

Meanwhile, the EMCO in seven areas will end tomorrow.  

This includes six in Semporna – Kg Bangau-Bangau, Kg Panji, Kg Air, Kg Selamat, Kg Simunul and Kg Pinggir Bakau – and one Kg Pengkalan in Kunak. 

Sabah Covid-19 official spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun today said the localities no longer under EMCO will have to adhere to the conditional movement control order like the rest of the state.  

Sabah Health Department today reported 564 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total infections to 18,083. 

The state recorded five Covid-19 deaths today – three in Sandakan, and one each in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau.  

A total of 473 Covid-19 patients in Sabah have recovered and been discharged from hospitals today.  

3,257 Covid-19 patients are still being treated in the state, with 734 people in hospitals and 2,523 in low-risk quarantine and treatment centres. 

A total of 69 people are in intensive care, with 17 dependent on ventilators.  

Kota Kinabalu recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in Sabah today at 183, followed by Sandakan (120) and Tawau (107).  

Out of Sandakan’s 120 total cases, 73 cases are from the Sandakan prison cluster.
