KUALA LUMPUR – Former plantation industries and commodities minister Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali has been dropped as a PAS committee member only two months after his appointment.

The matter was confirmed by PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang today.

Hadi said that the decision was made during a party leadership meeting at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, but refused to divulge why Khairuddin was dropped.

“The matter was handled by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.

“Certainly there is a reason for this, as we have (rules of) discipline in our party. Those who don’t follow our discipline can have their positions changed, transferred, suspended, or even be fired,” Utusan Malaysia quoted the Marang MP as telling reporters after a sermon in Masjid Rusila in Marang.

On November 23 last year, Khairuddin, who is the Kuala Nerus MP, was among three PAS leaders who were reappointed as committee members for the 2021-2023 session.

In October last year, the Attorney-General Chambers decided to not pursue charges against Khairuddin, who was then a minister, for allegedly flouting self-quarantine rules.

This was following a two-month saga that began with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok revealing in the Dewan Rakyat that Khairuddin had flouted said laws by showing up in the Dewan Rakyat days after returning from Turkey.

Despite the outrage over double standards as many average Malaysians were receiving heftier sentences for the same crime, Khairuddin got a “no further action” from police on orders of the AGC. –  The Vibes, January 14, 2022
