KUALA LUMPUR – Police are conducting an investigation into alleged violations of standard operating procedures (SOPs) under Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan at a product launch involving some businessmen and a politician yesterday.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said this follows a police report lodged yesterday, after several pictures of guests apparently not observing physical distancing or wearing face masks at the event held at a hotel in Petaling Jaya had gone viral.

“Police have identified the organisers of the event, as well as the guests present, and all of them will be called to assist with the investigation under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342),” he said in a statement today.

Fakhrudin reminded event organisers and companies to ensure compliance with the set SOPs for containing the spread of Covid-19. – Bernama, January 18, 2022
