KUALA LUMPUR – PKR has acquired up to 78,093 new membership applications – a number the party interprets as a sign of the people’s support for the party’s leadership abilities.

In a statement today, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that the party had been receiving applications as early as November 4 and had just yesterday closed the window to register.

“Such a high number of applications shows that PKR has the people’s support and encouragement to continue to spur the nation’s politics and leadership,” he said.

The Kulim Bandar Baharu MP, who is also Pakatan Harapan secretary-general, added that the name list of registered members will be presented to the branch for checks and objections before it is then submitted to the component party’s member registration.

“The process above will take place from February 3 to 9.

“If there are objections to any of the newly registered members, the branch can bring up their reservations to the Secretary-General’s Office before or on February 9.

“All objections will be reviewed and decided on by the party’s Supreme Council, and the decision will be final,” Saifuddin said.

He added that the party’s main office will submit the final name list as early as February 18 to the Party Selection Committee for it to complete the voter list. – The Vibes, February 1, 2022
