ALOR STAR – Kedah has recorded a 35% increase in Covid-19 cases due to the spread of the Omicron variant here.
The state registered 1,446 cases on Monday, 1,463 on Tuesday and 1,569 yesterday.
Majority of the cases were contributed by close contacts, symptomatic screening, and self-screening (9%).
Kedah, under its digital home surveillance order, will be monitoring the condition of the Covid-19 patients under home quarantine in a bid to keep infections under control.
The state Health Department said in a statement today that most Covid-19-positive individuals who are asymptomatic and not in serious categories are not required to go to the Covid-19 Assessment Centres (CAC).
It added that patients need to perform daily self-monitoring through the Health Assessment Tool (HAT) in their MySejahtera application.
It said patients will receive an SMS or a phone call from the automated voice recording (robocall) service if they do not conduct self-monitoring through MySejahtera.
Individuals who need to go to the CAC for further assessment will be notified via MySejahtera, or CAC officers by SMS or phone calls.
However, patients in Category 2B with moderate symptoms, or in high-risk groups, are required to go to the nearest CAC or hospital for assessment.
The department reminded that the isolation period for asymptomatic and fully vaccinated Covid-19 patients is seven days while those who are symptomatic and with incomplete vaccination will have to be quarantined for 10 days.
It added that infected individuals who do not have MySejahtera are required to go to district health offices or clinics to get their quarantine wristbands. – The Vibes, February 10, 2022
