KUALA TERENGGANU – A total of 44 areas in Hulu Terengganu are currently experiencing unscheduled water supply disruptions after the water treatment plant in the district had to be shut down following the floods.

Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd (Satu) said it was due to murky raw water in the pump house exceeding the plant’s designed capacity.

It also said that it had yet to be determined when the plant would be fully operational as the murky water was still untreatable.

“Satu also needs to ensure that all equipment in the plant is in good condition and can be operated without endangering the safety of its staff, especially those involving electricity,” it said in a statement today.

To ensure the residents receive clean water, it said, four water tankers have been mobilised in stages to the affected areas, prioritising critical areas during this period.

It also sought the cooperation of the public to comply with physical distancing and wear face masks when collecting water from tanker trucks.

Further information can be obtained at https://webapps.satuwater.com.my/tanker_tracker, the MySatu app, and Satu’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. The public can also call 1-300-882-111 or 09-620-1111 for complaints and enquiries. – Bernama, February 28, 2022
