KUALA LUMPUR – A feasibility analysis is still being carried out for the proposed Sg Rasau water treatment plant, Selangor state assembly was told today.

Exco Izham Hashim (Pandan Indah-Pakatan Harapan) said the project is expected to be completed in 2024, after a question by Michelle Ng (Subang Jaya-PH).

“The study is expected to be completed this November and Air Selangor will call for a tender for other detailed specification studies and procurement systems (of the project).

“This is a very important project. Failure is not an option. It will be completed by 2024 – four years from now,” said Izham, who oversees infrastructure, public facilities, modernisation, agriculture and agro-based industries.

He added that the Sg Rasau water treatment plant has the capacity to pump out 700 million litres a day, which will be supplied to Klang district.

“However, the Sg Rasau phase 2 (of the project) will be completed in 2028. It has the capacity to produce another 700 million litres a day, which will be supplied to the Petaling district.”

Meanwhile, Izham said the two water supply systems of the Kuala Langat water treatment plant will be completed by 2023.

“For the western corridor, the water distribution system will be completed in December 2022 while the northern corridor will be done in December 2023.”

Four districts will receive water supply from the Kuala Langat water treatment plant are:

- Petaling district: Puchong, Jalan Klang Lama, Petaling Jaya Selatan, Subang Jaya, Sri Kembangan and Serdang

- Gombak district: Setiawangsa, Desa Tun Hussein Onn, Hulu Klang and Ampang

- Hulu Langat district: Jalan Ulu Langat and Sg Lui

- Kuala Lumpur district: Defence Ministry and Keramat – The Vibes, November 10, 2020
