KUALA LUMPUR – PKR communications chief Fahmi Fadzil had dismissed speculation that former deputy prime minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail had recently contracted Covid-19.

Instead, Fahmi said, the Pandan MP was “unwell” and was forced to take a break from attending events and officiating the PKR Lembah Pantai branch annual meeting (MATC).

“Yesterday, the media quoted party sources as saying that Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is positive for Covid-19. That information is untrue,” Fahmi said on Facebook.

“Kak Wan (Dr Wan Azizah) was unwell yesterday and needed to rest, therefore she could not officiate the Lembah Pantai MATC. Therefore, PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail replaced her at the last minute.”

Fahmi, who is also Lembah Pantai MP, said Dr Wan Azizah had undergone self-testing for Covid-19 today and was free from the virus.

“Alhamdulillah she is negative,” Fahmi said.

“I pray that she and us all are protected from this disease.” – The Vibes, March 28, 2022
