KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigation into abuse of power in Negri Sembilan is focused on logging and land lease projects that took place between 2008 and 2013, said a well-placed source.

The source told The Vibes that MACC’s investigation will look into a former menteri besar and several individuals but has “yet to establish any valuation because the case leans more towards abuse of power”.

It is learnt that relevant documents are being sourced and examined by investigators before deciding on their next course of action.

He added that the investigation zeroes in on supposed projects that took place between 2008 and 2013.

This follows reports yesterday of a senior Umno leader being investigated by MACC.

It was reported that investigations kicked off following a report lodged by Umno information chief of the Setapak Jaya 1A Branch, Setiawangsa division, Datuk Halim Rahmat.

Between March 2004 and May 2018, Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan served as the 10th Negri Sembilan menteri besar.

Attempts have been made to reach Mohamad directly for comments with calls and texts going unanswered. – The Vibes, April 14, 2022
