SHAH ALAM – The Selangor government has allocated RM1.1 million for the organising of the “Prihatin Rakyat” Mega Sale programme that will begin tomorrow in stages throughout the state in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration in May.

State Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Modernisation of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Committee chairman Izham Hashim said the programme involves three sales programmes from the four government agencies and will be implemented in 29 locations until May 2.

Izham said the sales programme will be spearheaded by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) in collaboration with Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated, Koperasi Warga Hijrah Selangor Bhd (Kohijrah) and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama).

“This programme will involve a combination of three sales programmes locations that will be conducted at seven PKPS from April 28 to 30; 21 Selangor Agro Markets (SAM) and Fama Farmers' Market locations (April 30 to May 2), and one Kohijrah Market location at the Berjaya Park night market site, Section 32, near here tomorrow, April 27, and 29.

“For this mega sale, we will provide 23,200 chickens, 23,200kg of fresh meat, 16,700kg of beef bones, 18,200 grade B chicken eggs, 25,200 tonnes of packet cooking oil, and 1,500kg of frozen q-fish.

“We guarantee the supply of these main items during the programme will be sufficient,” he told reporters after inspecting the operations of the Section 13 Stadium Farmers Market today.

PKPS group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi was also present.

Izham said about 50,000 people in the state would receive benefits, with each of them receiving a price reduction subsidy of up to RM11, especially for the six main items.

He said that the programme is an extension of the Ehsan Food Prices Intervention Programme under PKPS launched last February and has benefited about 50,000 Selangor residents. – Bernama, April 24, 2022
