KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 1,114 new Covid-19 cases and two new deaths, said the Health Ministry.
This brings the cumulative cases to 46,209 and the death toll to 306.
The two deaths involved a man and a woman in Sabah. Both had a medical history of high blood pressure and osteoarthritis, respectively.
Two of today’s new cases are imports.
There are also four new clusters today – Istimewa (10 new cases) in Sandakan, Alila (two) in Kota Kinabalu, and Assumption (six) and Rajawali (three) in Penang.
Today’s new recoveries stand at 803, increasing the cumulative recoveries to 33,772.
There are currently 103 patients in intensive care and 43 need respiratory aid.
Sabah remains the state with the highest daily Covid-19 cases at 391, followed by Negri Sembilan (371) and Selangor (199).
In Negri Sembilan, 363 of its new cases are from the Cergas cluster.
Selangor’s 199 cases are from existing clusters – Teratai (50), Hentian (39) and Perigi (27), among others.
The ministry said 65% of new cases stem from prison clusters – Tembok (45), Seberang Prai Prison (14), Sandakan Prison (three), Kepayan Prison (two) and GK Tawau (one).
It also announced the end of Bah Lunas cluster in Kulim (Kedah), Baling in Dungun (Terengganu) and Bah Remban in Kota Kinabalu (Sabah).
The ministry continues to urge the public to continue to follow the standard operating procedures and health advisories.
