KUALA LUMPUR – Petaling Jaya police have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly waving a “gun” while driving along the Damansara-Puchong Highway yesterday.

He was accused of waving a “gun” while driving a red Proton Wira on the busy highway near a mall at 6.15pm yesterday, said PJ police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

A member of the public had recorded an 18-second video of the alleged act and subsequently reported it to police. The man was later arrested at a condominium in Bandar Sri Damansara at 10pm on the same day.

Following the arrest, police had confiscated the car and a toy gun worth RM2.40, which the suspect said belonged to a younger family member.

The suspect also had a prior criminal record.

He will be brought to the Petaling Jaya magistrates’ court today to be remanded, while the case is being investigated under Section 26 of the Firearms Act 1960.

If convicted, the suspect could face a prison sentence of no more than six months or a fine, or both. – The Vibes, May 30, 2022
