KUALA LUMPUR – Senator Fadhlina Sidek today conceded the Wanita PKR chief race to Batu Tiga rep Rodziah Ismail, saying she lost after a “very intense” contest.

Fadhlina – who is the daughter of the late former president of the Malaysian Muslim Youth Movement, Prof Datuk Siddiq Fadzil – also congratulated Rodziah on the win.

“I wish to extend my appreciation and gratitude towards all those in the women’s party machinery who struggled and worked hard throughout the election.

“My victory in Selangor, Sabah, Melaka, Penang and Perlis is something very significant and signals the strength of the grassroots,” she said in a Facebook post.

As of 5pm, Fadhlina gained 21,441 votes in all states compared with Rodziah’s 22,080.

Acknowledging the defeat, Fadhlina also thanked the members who voted for her, saying they made a “bold” choice.

She also urged the party members to accept the results “with an open heart” as a family that prioritises unity.

“We must conclude that our focus is no longer about disputes, but to embrace and gather all strength we have to consolidate the party.

“I thank my division in Bangi for its support and for showing a fighting spirit.” – The Vibes, May 30, 2022
