KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating a case involving the misappropriation of funds from the Kedah economic stimulus package.

A source told Getaran, The Vibes’ Malay-language sister portal, that a state exco is also involved in the investigation but has yet to be called in to provide a statement.

“It is understood that MACC has initiated investigations, but the process is still in the early stages. The case that is being investigated allegedly happened in 2020. The state exco in question has not been summoned but there is a chance that will happen.”

Meanwhile, state Amanah secretary Asmirul Anuar Aris called on Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor to take a stand against covering up any wrongdoing possibly committed by the exco.

In a Facebook post, he urged Sanusi to express his readiness to cooperate with MACC authorities to investigate the exco.

“It is best for the menteri besar himself to respond to a situation that is widely talked about by people of the state. Be an individual that not only dares to accuse the opponent but is also ready to tell the truth to anyone.

“We’ll wait for the next episode together to find out who the exco is and what exactly the issue is,” he said. – The Vibes, June 10, 2022
