MIRI – Sarawak police busted an illegal loan financing syndicate operating in the northern region, here.

Miri police chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu said three people have been arrested, comprising two men and a woman, during a recent raid carried out in premises in the city.

In a statement, Naga said the group is suspected to be embroiled in 11 illegal loan financing cases.

“We are investigating them for various offences under the Penal Code and Finance Act.

“The suspects are aged between 27 and 31,” he said.

He added that police during its raid also seized documents, transaction records and various personal devices believed to be used to carry out numerous illegal transactions.

At present, Naga said, police are conducting an in-depth probe to trace the masterminds behind the scheme, the total number of transactions that took place, and the potential number of victims involved. – The Vibes, June 10, 2022
