SHAH ALAM – Outgoing PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has confirmed that the party has been served a notice by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to explain the results of its recent party polls.
Saifuddin, during his winding-up speech at the PKR national congress here today, said this came after “several complaints” have been lodged to RoS regarding the party election process.
“As soon as I got the letter, the first thing that came to my mind was that I must be prepared for the worst-case scenario. Like what DAP faced in 2013 and MIC in 2015.
“This will be my last task (as secretary-general). Believe me, with you (delegates) as my witness, I will defend the party, to the best of my ability, from any action that RoS wants to take,” he said.
PKR had received more than 1,800 complaints of fraud during party polls and postponed its congress from June to July to allow a forensic audit of the election to take place.
Saifuddin also refuted rumours that the party’s audit and election committee (JPP) was abetting him and president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The JPP, he said, was established with the consent of the central leadership council while the auditor was appointed by the election committee.
“If anyone wants to split the party, we will take necessary action. What is the point of spreading slander to provoke anger among ourselves?” – The Vibes, July 17, 2022
