PUTRAJAYA – Malaysia recorded 958 new Covid-19 cases and three deaths today, said Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
On the breakdown of the new infections today, he said Sabah continues to record the highest number of cases with 512 infections, or 53.4% of the overall cases.
This is followed by Selangor and Negri Sembilan, with 153 cases each.
“The high number of infections in Sabah is due to the increased cases in existing clusters, as well as contact tracing conducted by the ministry.”
The remaining cases were recorded in Kuala Lumpur (46), Penang (25), Perak (24), Kedah (19), Johor (9), Kelantan (7), Terengganu (4), Melaka (2), Sarawak (2), Putrajaya (1) and Labuan (1).
Overall, Dr Noor Hisham said only five cases were imported, all which were recorded in Kuala Lumpur.
He added that the ministry has identified five new clusters today – Kasir in Sabah, Sri Jujur in Selangor, OAD in Negri Sembilan and Selangor, Enggor in Perak, and Makmur in Johor.
Meanwhile, the new tally brings the cumulative infections to 52,638, while total fatalities now stands at 329, or 0.6% of the overall cases.
In a press conference, Dr Noor Hisham said 956 recoveries were recorded, as total recoveries stood at 39,088.
“These latest figures bring the number of active cases to 13,221.”
According to Dr Noor Hisham, there are now 110 individuals receiving treatment at intensive care units, with 42 of them requiring ventilator support. – The Vibes, November 20, 2020
