NIBONG TEBAL – A woman here was left helpless after her car locked her out, and her 1-year-old son in, this afternoon.

Nibong Tebal fire station senior officer Mohd Awis Kharni Abdul Rahman said it received an emergency call from the mother at 4.58pm.

He said a team was deployed to the scene in Taman Widuri, where they found the toddler inside a Proton Saga at the family home.

“When we arrived, we found the baby in good condition, but he looked scared.

“According to his mother, he was trapped in the car for the past half-hour.

“We had to break the rear window of the car to retrieve him.”

The woman had placed her son in the vehicle before the auto-lock system kicked in, he said.

“It is understood that before the incident, the family had wanted to go for a walk. The child’s mother put him in the car first, but it suddenly locked her out.

“The car’s auto-lock system was too fast, causing the child to be trapped inside.

“The panicked mother immediately called the Fire and Rescue Department for help.” – The Vibes, November 20, 2020
