KUALA LUMPUR – A Malaysian doctor who was convicted of drugging patients before abusing them in New Zealand has been deported from the country after being released from serving five years in prison.
David Kang Huat Lim who served at a Hastings clinic sedated four men before sexually assaulting them by rubbing their genitals.
According to a report by The New Zealand Herald, the 46-year-old Malaysian, who now identifies as a female, serves a deportation order at the end of a five-year sentence on June 1.
David received medical training in Scotland before arriving in Hawke’s Bay, Napier in 2006 to begin medical practice.
Following sentencing, David had been declined parole on four occasions since 2019.
The disbarred doctor was sentenced to five years’ jail in August 2017 after a jury found her guilty of five charges of disabling or stupefying and five charges of indecent assault on a male over 16.
In 2018, the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal stripped Lim of a licence to practice in New Zealand, censuring and ordering her to pay NZ$4,380 (RM12,212) in costs.
David is also barred from returning to New Zealand following a decision by a parole board. – The Vibes, August 3, 2022.
