SHAH ALAM –  PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has expressed his confidence in the younger generation to lead the party.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said PKR is unique as it is a party whose leaders represent two generations.

“This is the only party where the leadership represents two generations.

“People ask me if I am confident, should I go first or have only a limited time left, that the party and its struggle can be led by capable people with integrity.

“My answer is that there are not many other parties (like us). If there are, show me who has a clear framework like PKR (where) Rafizi and the others are clear on the party’s struggle and objectives,” he said, as reported by Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.

He was referring to party deputy president Rafizi Ramli.

The 75-year-old former deputy prime minister was speaking at PKR’s election convention here today.

Anwar, who is Port Dickson MP, urged party leaders and grassroots to be sincere in the struggle for PKR to prevent the betrayals in 2020 that caused the collapse of the PH government.

Leaders who destroy their parties only think of how they can benefit, he added.

“The country cannot be sustainable if it is managed by corrupt people. PKR must never abandon its core values and ethics system.

“This must be understood and practised by all as a defence against narrow-minded communal thinking, “Anwar said.

Embracing all races is also how PKR can be stronger and face the 15th general election, he added.

“We must move confidently, we cannot win if we are defensive.”

He said if PKR lacks confidence, it will not be able to convince Malays about the problems facing them, such as education and jobs.

“Malays are the majority, but are easily swayed by the talk of those who play on sentiments,” Anwar said. – The Vibes, August 27, 2022
