KUALA LUMPUR – The father of a 15-year-old child actress has been summoned by police over accusations that he had mentally, physically and sexually abused her and her mother several years ago.
The father said that he is currently with police in Kedah and will be taken to the Puchong police station to provide his statement.
This follows a police report lodged on Monday night by his daughter who alleged sexual abuse and neglect.
The man said he was shocked by the allegations and had filed his own police report on the matter.
“I had also filed my own police report last Sunday in Bandar Baru Kedah since I am currently staying here to provide care for my ailing father,” he told Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.
The man also vehemently denied any wrongdoing on his part, labelling the claims made by his daughter as “extreme and crazy.”
“Previously, there were rumours going around about me, but I kept quiet and didn’t do anything (in response) as they (the rumours) did not involve my dignity, the law or criminal cases.
“However, the accusations now are very serious and involve the issue of child abuse and molestation. I am not that crazy to do things like that,” he stressed.
He also questioned why his daughter had been silent on the matter all the while, only to “expose” him recently, claiming that the apparent delayed reaction “does not make sense.”
Yesterday, it was reported that police will be investigating the man, with Subang Jaya district police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat saying the case would be investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for outrage of modesty.
He also cited Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for neglect and Section 292 of the Penal Code for possession of pornographic material.
On Saturday (September 3), the child actor was featured in a podcast by the Bros Gang TV Youtube channel where she detailed the alleged mistreatment she suffered at the hands of a “manipulative” father.
Other than claiming she was forced to watch pornographic videos with him and his friends when she was only 5-years-old, she said her father had coerced her into witnessing him masturbate while also touching her inappropriately.
The child actor said her mother had to bear her father’s financial debts even after their divorce, adding that he would disappear whenever the family needed help.
The abuse had ostensibly taken place from 2013 to 2017.
After the issue made the rounds on social media, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun said investigations will be carried out if it is found that there is any truth in the allegations.
However, religious affairs minister Datuk Idris Ahmad asserted that the child actress should not have exposed her father’s “bad attitude” in public and on social media, adding that she should have used the “proper” channel by filing a police report.
“In Islam, it is more important for us to cover our own ‘aib’ (indiscretions). Such disturbances should not have been revealed to the public,” he told reporters yesterday, as quoted by Harian Metro. – The Vibes, September 7, 2022
