KUALA LUMPUR – Police have identified the documents and statements needed for the investigation into Datuk Tawfiq Ayman, the husband of former Bank Negara governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, in relation to 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Police Inspector-General Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said that the documents and statements would need to undergo the mutual legal assistance (MLA) process by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) to ensure that they could be accepted in court.

“In April 2022, police issued an application under the MLA through the AGC to the Singaporean authorities,” he said in a statement today.

In March, police had gone to Singapore to gather information and statements relating to the case. – Bernama, September 13, 2022
