PUTRAJAYA – Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin would be seeking clarification from PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang on claims that it is reviving Muafakat Nasional (MN) with Umno.

Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said he wants PAS to explain what had been agreed between PAS and Umno at their recent meeting.

“I’m also interested to know what actually happened. I want to get clarification when I meet Hadi this Monday or Tuesday.

“We are going to discuss many issues of great importance, and of course to get clarification if there is any such discussion and what is the outcome, is Umno agreeable to that arrangement, (and) what is the position of PN,” he told media at the sixth-anniversary celebration of Bersatu, here today.

Earlier, the media reported that a meeting between Hadi and Zahid, which took place on Tuesday, discussed MN in order to avoid clashes between the two parties in the upcoming general election (GE).

Earlier, PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan was reported as saying that there are informal talks between the party and certain Umno leaders on cooperation ahead of GE15.

During the 68th PAS Muktamar, a motion was also passed to continue cooperation with Umno through the MN platform for GE15.

MN is a political alliance between Umno and PAS, which was formed in 2019 after both parties were defeated in the 14th general election. – Bernama, September 24, 2022
