IPOH – Perak Warisan will be realistic and only field candidates in specific seats in the 15th general election (GE15), says its chairman Datuk Seri S Sunther.

He said that as a new party in Peninsular Malaysia, including Perak, Warisan would need the proper focus on the machinery and preparations for the polls.

“We have proposed on the matter of seats (to contest) to the party president three days ago, and he will announce the decision on October 21.

“We hope to compete for three or four seats, maybe more, at the Parliament and state levels in Perak. The list of candidates has been finalised, we are waiting for the president’s decision,” he said during a programme to prepare the party’s machinery here today.

He said coordinators in several areas in the state had been appointed to facilitate the operation of the machinery to at least win one seat.

Previously, Bernama reported that Warisan, a party based in Sabah, was expected to contest in five constituencies in Perak in GE15.

On June 18, Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, when receiving party membership forms here, said that the party would only contest in Perak parliamentary and state seats that were believed to be winnable. – Bernama, October 16, 2022
