KOTA KINABALU – Rival coalitions cannot form the federal government after the general election if Warisan wins all 25 seats in Sabah, said its president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
He said if his party sweeps the state, Warisan will get to decide the federal government, as he was confident that no coalition in the peninsula could form a majority without Sabah’s seats.
“If we (Warisan) get 25 seats, Malaysia will not form (a) federal government, our voices are loud. (When that happens) if you want to be prime minister, you have to listen to me.
“Because they (peninsula-based parties) are really divided,” he said when launching the party’s Tuaran election machinery today.
He said other than Warisan, there was no other local party that could represent Sabahans, as Sabah Star, SAPP, Usno – which is a member of the state’s ruling coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) – and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (in Barisan Nasional) have only been given a couple of seats each.
“How are they going to represent Sabah with only two seats? How can they fight for Sabah when they cannot even fight for seats within their own coalition?” he asked.
Shafie also claimed that GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had visited his house seeking collaboration with Warisan.
“I told Hajiji to leave Bersatu first, then come back and we can talk,” he said without saying when the meeting occurred.
Earlier today, Shafie named the former director of the Human Resource Development Department, Markos Siton, 65, as the party’s candidate in Ranau.

Warisan is expected to announce all its candidates for Peninsular Malaysia seats on Tuesday.
Shafie said they will include, among others, former Kedah religious affairs executive councillor Fadzil Hanafi, and a former Perlis assembly speaker.
“A lot of people want to become candidates (in the peninsula). I also have my influence in the peninsula, not only in Sabah,” he said. – The Vibes, October 29, 2022
