KOTA KINABALU – Negotiations are still ongoing for the vacant Beluran seat, said Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

Both Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Barisan Nasional (BN) did not announce candidates for the rural seat today.

“(We are) still negotiating,” he told reporters after the GRS-BN candidate announcement here today.

When asked whether the negotiations would be concluded before the nomination day on November 5, Bung just laughed and made no clear response.

The incumbent Beluran MP is Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

On another note, Bung put to rest talks on whether former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman would be contesting in the general election.

“Musa has no intention. He never told me he doesn’t want to make a comeback,” said Bung.

He also said Musa’s son, Hafez Yamani Musa, who was the incumbent Sipitang MP, refused to contest.

Hafez won the Sipitang seat under the Umno ticket but he joined Bersatu after the 14th general election.

The seat will now be contested by Datuk Matbali Musah who is from GRS-Bersatu. – The Vibes, November 2, 2022
