KUALA LUMPUR – The abolition of the chairman’s post is expected to be discussed at Bersatu’s annual general assembly tomorrow.
Supreme council member Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said the matter has been discussed by the party’s top leaders.
“It’s a real issue, not mere speculation. We have discussed it, and I think we have the support from most members for this, to strengthen the management of the party itself.
“It is because we don’t want to have two captains on our ship. We just want a president,” he said after appearing on Bernama TV’s Malaysia Petang Ini programme today.
The chairman’s post was held by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad before his membership was terminated.
Redzuan said doing away with the position will require amendments to the party constitution.
