KOTA MARUDU – Incumbent Datuk Seri Maximus Ongkili of Parti Bersatu Sabah has his campaigning work cut out for him as he faces off with five candidates gunning for the parliamentary seat here.

Ongkili, whose party is part of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, said he is ready to face any challenge as all elections are tough.

“Well, every election will always be tough. But we are set to do the best we can and offer our services to the locals in Kota Marudu.

“We are confident we will win.” 

Ongkili faces opponents from Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat’s Datuk Wetrom Bahanda, Warisan’s Datuk Jilid Kuminding, Pejuang’s Mohd Azmi Zulkiflee, Muda’s Shahrizal Denci and independent candidate Norman Tulang.

Ongkili won Kota Marudu in 2018 with a 1,774-vote majority. He has been defending the seat since 2004. – The Vibes, November 5, 2022
