AMPANG – Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) candidate for the Gombak parliamentary seat, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has vowed to donate his entire MP salary to uplift the constituency if he secures victory in the 15th general election (GE15).

The Selangor menteri besar said this is if he remains as an assemblyman and has a position in the state government.

He said his MP salary will be donated to a new Dana Komuniti Gombak (Gombak Community Fund) which he will set up if he becomes a federal lawmaker.

The fund, he said, will then be used to improve local infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of Gombak’s constituents.

“Dana Komuniti Gombak is an initiative to which I will contribute my salary as an MP... I will also invite the private and public sectors to contribute to the fund,” he said during the launch of his Gombak manifesto here today.

The community fund, according to Amirudin, is part of his pledge to offer better infrastructure for the constituents, which is one of five key pledges in his manifesto, dubbed Deklarasi Gombak Bermaruah (Gombak’s Declaration of Pride).

Under the infrastructure category, he vowed to, among others, build a new multi-purpose sports complex and senior citizens’ centre, and to upgrade public health facilities and clinics.

In his pledge on education and employment, the PKR vice-president aims to reduce unemployment, improve financial security, and protect the mental health of the youth.

He also vowed to give 10,000 free laptops and tablets over five years to ensure students do not miss out on online learning.

On improving the local economy, Amirudin said a new rest and recreation centre will be built in Gombak specifically for e-hailing drivers and delivery riders, which will be equipped with WiFi, charging points, and shower and praying rooms.

Women will be given skills training so that they can play an active role in the economy, he added.

Separately, Amirudin said 1,660 units of affordable housing under Pangsapuri Bayu Residensi @ Seri Temenggung will be provided, and pledged to resolve the issue of strata ownership involving Gombak residents.

The final key pillar of his manifesto is to pressure the federal government to accord states greater roles and responsibility on matters concerning health, education, public transportation, and tax distribution. – The Vibes, November 10, 2022
