DID warns to prepare for possible floods in six states

KUALA LUMPUR – The Irrigation and Drainage Department (DID) has issued a notice of preparedness for possible floods in Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Pahang, and Sarawak if there continues to be a significant amount of rainfall.

DID said in a statement today that possibly affected areas in Penang are Seberang Prai Utara – involving Kg Merbau Kudung, Taman Desa Murni, Kg Nyiur Sebatang, SRJKT Mak Mandin, SK Mak Mandin, SMK Mak Mandin, Kg Tok Jawa, Kg Baru, Kg Labuh Banting, Kg Telok, Kg Alor Merah, Kg Manggis, Kg Maklom, Kg Lahar Yooi, and the surrounding areas.

The areas in Seberang Prai Tengah are Kg Labuh Banting, Kg Kota, Kg Kubu, Kg Guar Jering, Kg Terus, Kg Pertama, Kg Kubang Semang, Taman Siakap, Taman Makok, Taman Tembikai in Taman Mutiara, Taman Sri Rambai, Taman Belimbing, Taman Janggus, Kg Permatang Rawa, Taman Guru, Kg Tanah Liat, Kg Permatang Ara, Kg Baru Alma, Kg Alma, Taman Alma, Taman Permai Jaya, Kg Kijang, Taman Nangka, Kg Kebun Sireh, Kg Siam, Taman Binjai, Kg Kebun Nenas, Jln Tembikai, Taman Cempedak, Taman Mangga, Kg Juru, Taman Pinang, Taman Sentul, Taman Sentul Jaya, Kg. Tok Panjang, Kg Tok Subuh, Taman Sukun, Taman Amra, Taman Murni, Kg Sg Permatang Rawa, Taman Desa Damai, and surrounding areas.

In Seberang Prai Selatan, the areas are Kg Masjid and its surroundings while in Timur Laut Penang, they are Georgetown and its surroundings.

In the Klang Valley, possible floods may hit the Petaling district, namely Kg Tengah A, Kg Kuala Sg Baru, Kg Bersatu Batu 13, Kg Melayu Subang, TTDI Jaya, Kg Aman Bestari, Kg Sri Aman Berkat, Kg Bukit Lanchong, KTM Batu 3, Seksyen 13 Shah Alam, Kg Kenangan Puchong, Taman Mesra, Shah Alam, BESRAYA, Serdang Agriculture Department Complex and Sri Kembangan, while in Klang – Kg Delek, Jalan Kebun Nenas, Kg Jawa, Taman Melawis, Teluk Pulai, Taman Petaling, Taman Sentosa, Taman Saujana, Taman Rashna, Kg Bukit Naga, Batu 8 Jalan Bukit Kemuning, Pandamaran, and its surroundings.

In Kuala Lumpur, the areas are Dato Onn Roundabout-Bank Rakyat, Jalan Chan Sow Lin, Salak Selatan town, Razak Mansion, Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Masjid Jamek, Universiti Malaya, Kg Pantai Dalam, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Maarof, Jalan Kia Peng, Jalan Leboh Pasar, and its surroundings.

In Pahang, floods are likely to hit Kg Cherating, Taman Balok Damai in Kuantan and its surroundings, while in Temerloh, areas likely to be flooded are Kg Pangkalan Manggis, Kg Loyang, Temerloh town centre and its surroundings.

In Sarawak, areas that may be hit by floods are Samarahan involving Kg Ensika, Kg Sekitong, Kg Lubok Manta, Pekan Sebuyau and its surroundings, as well as in Kuching town centre and surrounding areas.
