KUALA LUMPUR – The Election Commission’s MySPR Semak website’s constant breakdowns, including its mobile application, have triggered much discontent among users since this morning.
As at 2.15pm, the website was again inaccessible for voters to check and confirm their polling centre.
Checks by The Vibes revealed that the MySPR Semak mobile app was also inaccessible.
In a statement, Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the EC to rectify the problem immediately.
“PH has received numerous complaints from the public regarding the inability to access the website to check their polling stations since last night,” he said.
He hoped the problem would be fixed as soon as possible before the voting process ends at 6pm today.
“This flaw is regrettable because the EC should have taken all the necessary preparations to ensure everything goes smoothly before and especially on polling day,” said Anwar.
However, a website similar to MySPR Semak was still operating and was accessible to voters.
Meanwhile, the EC said the MySPR Semak portal had seen extraordinary traffic since yesterday.
“The website has been getting about 2.5 million hits per second. This caused a glitch and disruption to the application and MySPR portal,” said the EC in a statement.
As part of measures to curb the downtime, the EC has maximised the server’s capabilities.
“As an alternative, the public are advised to contact EC’s hotline at 03-88927218 or the EC counter at voting locations,” the statement added. – The Vibes, November 19, 2022
