KUALA LUMPUR – Gabungan Rakyat Sabah deputy chairman Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee has claimed that Perikatan Nasional (PN) has the majority needed to form the federal government.
Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting with PN chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Yong said this includes support from Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs.
“Under the leadership of (Muhyiddin), PN has the majority (needed to form the government).
“This is with the support of MPs from several parties, including BN,” he briefly told reporters from his car on the way out of Muhyiddin’s residence.
Additionally, he said that the coalition’s stand on rejecting cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) remains firm.

Meanwhile, PN Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari reiterated the coalition would not work with PH. He was also hesitant to confirm whether BN as a coalition or selected MPs would join forces with PN.
“We’ll have to consider all possibilities and various scenarios have been analysed.
“All I can say for now is that PN will definitely not be working with PH.”
Besides Yong and Fadhli, a slew of other PN leaders were spotted leaving Muhyiddin’s home just before 5pm today.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor, and PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man were among those seen leaving the housing area.
The above leaders did not stop to speak with the media after the meeting, which was believed to have started at around 3pm today. The gathering follows PN’s unexpected success in the national polls, with the coalition securing a shocking 73 parliamentary seats.
During a press conference at about 3am today, Muhyiddin said that while PN is willing to work with any party that agrees with its values, cooperation with PH is out of the question.
National coalition and party leaders have until 2pm tomorrow to submit to the Dewan Rakyat speaker their political composition to establish a new government for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s consideration.
They must also include the name of a prime minister candidate with the majority support of Dewan Rakyat members. – The Vibes, November 20, 2022
