KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders are seeking a postponement of their scheduled audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today at 10.30am today, according to coalition leaders.

This is after a fresh round of meetings among BN leaders and 30 of its MPs late last night, during which coalition leaders reiterated their stance of being neutral and not supporting either Pakatan Harapan (PH) or Perikatan Nasional (PN).

Speaking briefly to the press, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah deputy president and Pensiangan MP Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup said they are seeking for a postponement of the meet as the coalition is still having a cooling-off period.

“We will release a statement soon whether we will proceed with the audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong tomorrow (November 23),” he said briefly to reporters after the meeting.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Chong Sin Woon also said that the coalition might seek a postponement to the royal audience.

“We remain with our stance of not supporting any coalition and we are also seeking for a postponement,” he said.

Similarly, MIC president Tan Sri S. Vigneswaran also said that the coalition will remain neutral, and he expects further discussions will be held on the matter.

This follows the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s decision to summon all 30 BN MPs for a royal audience today.

A statement from the palace yesterday said the king will meet the MPs individually, starting from 10.30am today.

This follows Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah’s audience yesterday with PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. –The Vibes, November 23, 2022
