JOHOR BARU – The search and rescue (SAR) mission to find the missing 56-year-old male hiker in Bukit Durian, Batu 10 in Pagoh, continues into day two.
This was confirmed by Pagoh Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Fadli Ismail.
“The victim has yet to be located. The (SAR) mission resumed today with the same number of personnel and gear,” Fadli said in a WhatsApp reply to The Vibes.
The SAR to find Goh Sang Seng began yesterday after the Pagoh Fire and Rescue Station was alerted by his friends that he had gone missing during a hiking trip in Bukit Durian.
Goh and about 20 of his friends were hiking together on Thursday but when they approached the top of the hill, he decided to end his climb early and make his way down to the car park at the bottom of the hill.
Seeing that they are familiar with the trek, his friends let him go down alone.
However, when the group went down to the parking lot at around 6pm, the victim was nowhere to be seen.
His friends tried to look for him along the trek, but they could not find the victim.
The group disbanded their search and called the Fire and Rescue Department at about 12.59am on Friday morning, almost seven hours after Goh had gone missing.
A 11-member team from the Pagoh Fire and Rescue station was deployed to carry out a search and rescue operation after receiving the distress call from the victim’s friends. – The Vibes, November 26, 2022
